Carrer Journey Of Zarina Wahab
After filmmaker Raj Kapoor gave her negative feedback about her looks, Zarina worked on her looks and started attending film events. This brought her recognition and eventually she was cast in films.
She became popular for playing middle-class girl roles, starting with her first lead role in Basu Chatterjee’s Chit Chor (1976). She went on to star in films such as Agar, Jazbaat, Sawan Ko Aane Do and Raees Zada.
For her performance in Gharaunda (1977), she was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress but lost to Shabana Azmi.
Zarina has acted in several Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films. She returned to Malayalam cinema in 2009 with Calendar and received praise for her role in the critically acclaimed Adaminte Makan Abu.
In Bollywood, she has appeared in notable films such as My Name Is Khan (as Shah Rukh Khan’s mother), Agneepath, I, Me Aur Main and Dil Dhadakne Do. She now often plays aged roles in films and TV shows.
