Vidit started playing chess during his school days at Fravashi Academy and became a Grandmaster in January 2013, the 30th Indian to achieve this title.
At 14, he made history as the first Indian to win the under-14 category at the World Youth Chess Championship. Vidit also captained the Indian chess team to a gold medal in the 2020 FIDE Online Chess Olympiad. He’s a double gold medalist from the Chess Olympiad and won a silver medal at the Asian Games.
