Sobhita Dhulipala was born on May 31, 1992 in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh, to a Telugu Brahmin family. Her father Venugopal Rao was a merchant navy engineer and her mother Santha Kamakshi was a primary school teacher. She grew up in Visakhapatnam.

At the age of 16, Sobhita moved to Mumbai on her own. She studied corporate law at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics, a part of the University of Mumbai.

She is also a trained classical dancer in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam. In 2010, she won the title of Navy Queen at the annual Navy Ball.

Encouraged by a college friend, Sobhita decided to audition for a beauty pageant. She described herself as an “uncool geek” seeking recognition and initially joined only to prove she could get past the first round.

In 2013, she represented India at the Miss Earth pageant in the Philippines. Although she did not make it to the top 20, she won several titles, including Miss Photogenic, Miss Beauty for a Cause, Miss Talent, and Miss Beautiful Face. She was also featured in the 2014 Kingfisher Calendar.
