Scott Michael Boland is an Australian cricketer who plays for the national team. He is a fast-medium bowler and also plays for Victoria and Melbourne Stars in domestic cricket.
At the age of 32, he made an incredible Test debut against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), taking 6 wickets for just 7 runs, helping his team to a huge win.
Scott Michael Boland was born on April 11, 1989, in Mordialloc, Victoria, Australia. From a young age, he had a deep love for cricket, eventually making him one of Australia’s most reliable fast bowlers. He comes from a supportive family that has always stood by him. His father, Mick Boland, his mother, Mrs. Boland, and his brother Nick, who also played professional cricket for Victoria’s Future League team, have been a constant source of encouragement. Scott is married to Daphne Boland, and together they have a son and a daughter. His family often cheers him on during his matches.
Scott attended St John Vianney’s Primary School in Parkdale and St Bede’s College in Mentone. While cricket was his main passion, his education gave him a strong foundation. At 6 feet 2 inches (180 cm) tall, Scott is known for his skill as a fast bowler. In December 2021, he became only the second Aboriginal player to represent Australia in Test cricket, following Jason Gillespie.
In 2017, Scott’s family discovered their Indigenous heritage, learning that his grandfather, John Edward, was from the Gulidjan tribe in the Colac region of Victoria. Since then, Scott has embraced his Indigenous roots, representing Indigenous teams and even participating in the 2018 Indigenous tour of England, where he and his brother Nick played internationally for the first time.
