Rajpal began his acting training at the Bharatendu Natya Akademi in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, an institute known for nurturing and promoting young acting talent. After completing his studies there, he moved to New Delhi to further his education in acting.
He enrolled at the National School of Drama (NSD), one of India’s most prestigious institutions for theatre and performing arts.
Rajpal faced many rejections and struggles while trying to make a name for himself in the highly competitive world of Bollywood. Despite the challenges, he stayed determined and made his film debut with a small role in the 1999 comedy Dil Kya Kare.

Although he initially found success in negative roles, Rajpal preferred comedy and became a popular comedic actor in Hindi cinema. Some of his well-known comedy films include Hungama, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Chup Chup Ke, Garam Masala, Phir Hera Pheri, and Dhol.
He also starred in more serious roles in movies like Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, Ladies Tailor, Rama Rama Kya Hai Drama, and Hello! Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hain, Kushti, Mirch, Benny and Babloo, and Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh.
Rajpal won the Sansui Screen Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role for his performance in Jungle and was nominated for the Screen Best Actor Award.
He also received the Yash Bharati Award for Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon and was honored with the Janpad Ratna Award.
In 2015, Rajpal made his debut in Telugu cinema with Kick 2 and appeared in a multilingual film, Amma. He also played the lead role opposite Anjali Sharma in the psychological drama Son, directed and produced by Paul Rupesh.
