Career Journey of Nikhil Kamath
Nikhil Kamath started his career working in a call center and also learned stock trading at the same time. He would work in the call center from 4 pm to 1 am and trade early in the morning. He realized that the most important life lessons come from experiences outside the safety of home.
At the age of 18, He decided to seriously focus on stock trading. His father handed over part of his savings to him and this became his first step as a trader. He successfully managed his father’s money and also convinced his call center manager to invest in stocks.
In 2006, Nikhil and his brother Nithin Kamath started their brokerage firm, Kamath & Associates, to manage portfolios of wealthy clients. In 2010, the brothers together founded Zerodha, a brokerage firm dealing in stocks, currencies, and commodities.
Zerodha introduced a new model that cuts down on commission fees, making it easier for ordinary people to invest in the stock market. In 2020, he co-founded True Beacon, an asset management company that helps very wealthy individuals invest in Indian markets using private investment funds.
In 2021, he also co-founded Grihas, a real estate and tech company that invests in startups and special projects.
