She studied commerce (B.Com) at Savitribai Phule Pune University, became a chartered accountant through ICAI, and earned an MBA degree from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University in North Carolina.
Namita was raised in a respectable Indian family. Her father, Satish Mehta, is the founder and CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, an international pharmaceutical company. Her mother is Bhavana Mehta and her brother Samit Mehta is the President of Research and Development at Emcure Pharmaceuticals.
Namita is married to Vikas Thapar, who is also a businessman. The couple has two sons, Vir and Jay Thapar.

Career Journey Of Namita Thapar
After completing her MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business in North Carolina, Namita started working as a Business Finance Lead in the financial planning department at Guidant Corporation (now Abbott), a U.S.-based medical device company. She worked there for six years with dedication.
Later, Namita joined her family’s company, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Her career grew quickly, and she took charge of the company’s Indian operations. Her responsibilities and influence within the company increased, and she was soon promoted to Executive Director of Emcure’s Indian business.
In addition to her work at Emcure and as a judge on Shark Tank India, Namita is involved in several other initiatives. She is on the Regional Advisory Board for the Fuqua School of Business in India and runs Incredible Ventures Limited, which teaches business skills to children aged 11 to 18.
