UPSC Journey of Shruti Sharma
Shruti Sharma had a unique approach to preparing for the UPSC exam. She didn’t blindly follow others’ advice but developed her own methods that suited her learning style.
She began preparing four years ago, starting with NCERT books. Since current affairs are crucial for the IAS exam, she made it a habit to read newspapers regularly to stay updated on national and international events. To practice for the exams, she took online test series and found them helpful.
Shruti’s personal notes played a big role in revising the vast syllabus. She used the internet extensively and focused on improving her answer-writing skills for the Mains exam. For the optional subject, which carries 500 marks, she chose History, as it aligned with her strengths.
Her key to success was patience and focusing on quality learning rather than counting study hours. Shruti followed a study schedule but kept her resources limited. During revision, she avoided new books or materials to stay focused. She also emphasized the importance of reviewing previous years’ prelims question papers to understand the types of questions asked.
