Demi Moore Biography

Demi Moore was born on November 11, 1962, in Roswell, New Mexico. Before Moore was born, her biological father, Charles Harmon, left her mother, Virginia, after a short marriage. Moore was raised by her stepfather, Dan Guinness, who married and divorced her mother twice.

The family moved frequently as Dan changed jobs. Demi had a difficult childhood, including neglect, her stepfather’s suicide in 1980, and a strained relationship with her mother, who had legal troubles and struggled with addiction. Their relationship was rekindled shortly before her mother died in 1998.

Demi had health problems throughout her childhood, including strabismus (crossed eyes) and kidney problems. At age 13, she learned that Dan Guinness was not her biological father. At age 14, she lived with her grandmother for a while before moving to California with her mother.

She attended Fairfax High School, but dropped out at age 16 to work as a receptionist and later pursued modeling and acting. Inspired by her neighbor, actress Nastassja Kinski, Demi took acting classes and began her career with small TV roles. At age 17, she met musician Freddy Moore, whom she married in 1980 after they divorced.
