AR Murugadoss was born on 25 September 1974 in Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu. His initials “AR” stand for his father’s name Arunasalam. He added “AR” to his name when he made his film debut with Dheena in 2001. He now lives in Virugambakkam, Chennai.
He studied in a government school and later earned a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from Bishop Heber College, Tiruchirappalli.
Murugadoss married Farishta Ramya in 2005 and has two children. His brother Dilipan is also a part of the film industry and made his acting debut in the film Vaathikuchi, produced by Murugadoss.
