Siragapur Niranjan Reddy is an Indian lawyer who works in the Supreme Court of India and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal. Recently, he represented Allu Arjun in a legal case.
Niranjan Reddy Biography
Niranjan Reddy was born on 22 July 1970 in Nirmal in the Adilabad district of Telangana. He hails from a farmer family, and his father, Vidya Sagar Reddy, is a well-known lawyer in the area.
Niranjan did his early schooling in a rural convent school in Kisan Nagar in Nizamabad district, then moved to Hyderabad for secondary and higher education. He graduated from Shiva Sivani Public School in 1987.
Thereafter, he studied law at Symbiosis Law School in Pune and completed the 5-year integrated law course in 1992. Apart from being a highly respected lawyer, Niranjan is also involved in film production and helped finance the film Acharya starring Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan.
Recently, he played a key role in getting bail for Allu Arjun in the Telangana High Court. Niranjan is one of the top lawyers in Hyderabad and has also represented YS Jaganmohan Reddy in the Supreme Court.
Career Journey Of Niranjan Reddy
After completing his law degree (LLB) in 1992, Niranjan Reddy started working with senior advocates O. Manohar Reddy and K. Pratap Reddy in the Andhra Pradesh High Court. He also worked briefly in the Supreme Court of India under Justice Muralidhar in 1994-95.
In 1995, he started practicing law independently in Hyderabad. Over the years, he gained significant experience in handling cases in various courts, especially in commercial, criminal, and arbitration matters.
He served as a legal advisor for the Election Commission of India and the Medical Council of India. Niranjan also represented corporate clients and was counsel for Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in CBI and PMLA cases.
In 2016, he was recognized as a senior advocate. Since 2022, he has been practicing in the Supreme Court of India, New Delhi.
In 2022, Niranjan was elected to the Rajya Sabha as a Member of Parliament (MP) representing Andhra Pradesh from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
He serves on several committees including the Rajya Sabha Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs, the Subordinate Legislation Committee, the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Jal Shakti, and the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Law and Justice.
He was also part of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Amendment Bill, 2022.
Niranjan has a keen interest in filmmaking. Early in his career, he worked as an assistant director to Ram Gopal Varma. He wrote the screenplay for the film Ghazi (2012) and has produced films such as Gaganam (2011), Kshanam (2016), Ghazi, Wild Dog (2021) and Acharya (2022).
Niranjan has a great passion for art and the environment. He is the founding trustee of Art@Telangana, an organization that promotes the culture of the Telangana region. He is also a nature enthusiast and works on environmental issues.
