His father’s name is Siva Prasad, and his mother is Vijaya Durga, the younger sister of famous actor Megastar Chiranjeevi. He has a brother, Vaishnav Tej, who is also an actor.

Sai Dharam Tej studied at Chettinad Vidyashram in Chennai, Nalanda School in Hyderabad, and later graduated from St. Mary’s College in Hyderabad.

His cousins ​​include actors Ram Charan, Varun Tej, and Niharika Konidela. Pawan Kalyan and Nagendra Babu are his uncles, while actors Allu Arjun, Allu Siris,h and producer Allu Arvind are related to Chiranjeevi through marriage.

In 2004, he briefly changed his name to Sai Durga Tej. In March 2024, he announced that he would permanently use the name by combining parts of his parents’ names.
