Pathum Nissanka is a Sri Lankan cricketer and a right-handed batsman. He made his international debut against the West Indies in March 2021. He is also the first Sri Lankan to score a double century in ODI cricket.

He was born on May 18, 1998, in Galle, Sri Lanka. He grew up in a poor family; his father, Sunil Silva, worked as a ground staff member with a low income, and his mother sold flowers near the Kalutara temple.

Pathum began his cricket journey at Kalutara Vidyalaya and later attended Isipathana College in Colombo. During a School Cricket Championship, he impressed everyone by scoring an unbeaten double century (205 runs off 190 balls) against President’s College at the Colts ground in Colombo.

He made his List A debut on March 17, 2017, for Hambantota District in the Districts One Day Tournament. On February 24, 2018, he played his first Twenty20 match for Badureliya Sports Club in the SLC Twenty20 Tournament.

Pathum achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Sri Lankan batsman to score a double century in ODI cricket. He also holds the record for Sri Lanka’s highest individual ODI score, an unbeaten 210*. As of now, his net worth is estimated to be around $1.5 million.

  • January: Named in Sri Lanka A’s squad for the first-class series against Ireland A. Scored 258 runs in two matches, becoming the leading run-scorer for Sri Lanka A.
