So far, Urvil has played 33 T20 matches, scoring 683 runs with an impressive strike rate of 147.19. Before the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy season, he switched teams from Baroda to Gujarat.

Smashes 2nd-fastest T20 Century
Exactly a year after scoring the second-fastest century by an Indian in a 50-over match, Gujarat opener Urvil Patel smashed a hundred off 28 balls in T20 cricket.
This incredible feat, achieved during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) against Tripura in Indore, is the second-fastest century in T20 history and the fastest by an Indian. He broke Rishabh Pant’s 2018 record of scoring a century off 32 balls in the same tournament.
The fastest T20 century overall is scored by Estonia’s Sahil Chauhan, who smashed 100 off just 27 balls against Cyprus in early 2024.
Chasing a target of 156 against Tripura, Gujarat won the match easily in just 10.2 overs thanks to Urvil’s unbeaten 113 off 35 balls.
His innings included seven fours and 12 sixes, including sixes hit all around the ground – over covers, straight down the ground, over midwicket and square leg.
Notably, he dismissed Tripura captain Mandeep Singh for 24 off five balls and troubled other bowlers like Abhijit Sarkar, Shankar Paul and Mani Shankar Murasingh with powerful hitting.
On 27 November 2023, Urvil scored a century in 41 balls in the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy, becoming the second-fastest Indian to do so after Yusuf Pathan, who scored a century in 40 balls.
This happened a day after he was released by Gujarat Titans, as he did not play any matches in IPL 2023.
In the 2025 IPL mega auction, Urvil’s name appeared in the list of uncapped wicketkeepers, but no team picked him.
