Rasikh Salam Dar was born on April 5, 2000, in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. His father, Abdul Salam Ashmuji, is a teacher in their home village.
Rasikh tried out for the youth cricket team but wasn’t selected. Later, Indian cricket star Irfan Pathan noticed his talent during trials for the J&K state team. Impressed by his bowling skills and swing, Pathan helped him improve and prepare for professional cricket.
Rasikh made his debut for Jammu and Kashmir in the 2018-19 season, playing in tournaments like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT), Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT), and Ranji Trophy.
In 2018, he also made his List A debut. The Mumbai Indians signed him for the IPL 2019 season after spotting his potential.

At just 17 years and 353 days old, he became the youngest player to debut for the Mumbai Indians. However, in June 2019, he was banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for two years due to an issue with his birth certificate.
Rasikh made his debut in List A cricket for Jammu and Kashmir in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on October 3, 2018.
